Scottish Destination Management Association
Established in 1990, the SDMA is the officially recognised and constituted Association for Scottish-based tour operators and destination management companies.
Aims of the Association:
- To ensure that visitors to Scotland receive the best professional service from the travel trade
- To represent the voice of tour operators and DMCs to the wider tourism industry, including to the Scottish Tourism Alliance
- To develop and promote close working relationships with other stakeholders in Scottish Tourism, including accommodation and transport providers and visitor attractions.
- To promote best practice and continuous improvement among members.
Who are our Members?
SDMA members are a mixture of tour operators and professional travel organisers, who work directly with consumers and with the travel trade. We also represent DMCs/ground handling companies, whose focus is providing local expertise and services to overseas-based tour operators. These services can be transportation, hotel accommodation, restaurants, activities, excursions, conference venues, themed events, gala dinners and logistics, as well as helping with overcoming language barriers. DMCs are able to provide preferential rates based on the buying power they have with their preferred suppliers.
We are all experienced, professional and Scottish-based businesses, with expert local knowledge.
What Services do Members offer?
Our membership covers the whole range of possible tourism services in Scotland: small group tours, coach tours, FIT, conferences, tailor-made vacations, self-drive touring, train touring, cycling holidays, adventure travel, garden tours, whisky tours – you name it, we have a member who offers it!
