The Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2010
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is one of Scotland's most iconic events and presents a unique blend of music and military theatre set against the backdrop of a floodlit Edinburgh Castle. Add to this the castle ramparts, the delicate play of light, together with the excited murmur and applause of 9,000 spectators and you have the recipe for an event once seen never forgotten.
Since if first took place in 1950, more then 12 million people have experienced this spectacular event and over 40 countries have been represented. 2010 marks the Diamond Jubilee Year of Edinburgh's celebrated Tattoo, which will take place over the period 6-28 August.
As always, the exciting programme will include probably its two most popular items - the music of the Massed Pipes and Drums and that of the Massed Military Bands. Among the many bands taking part are those of South African Irish Regiment along with the South Australian Pipes and Drums and the prestigious Military Band of the Coldstream Guards.
